Happy Holidays from the Nusbaums! Mia is doing well and getting bigger! Her official weight on Monday was 7lbs. 6oz! We went downtown Monday for her Synagis shot to help protect her from getting RSV during these winter months. It is not a vaccine, but does provide antibodies for about a month, so Mia will get a shot monthly throughout RSV season (similar to flu season- winter/early spring months). RSV can be very serious for preemies, one of the reasons we have had to limit visitors and keep Mia home bound for the time. Thanks to all of our family and friends for being so understanding and keeping little Mia safe and healthy. Chad and I knew nothing about RSV until the doctors talked to us about it in the NICU. If you are curious, there is some good information at http://www.synagis.com/faq.aspx. Our next visit will be Mia's 4 month 'well baby' checkup (I know sounds crazy!) later in January.

Life with Mia is so good, and we are amazed by her each and every day! Wishing all of you a safe and happy holidays with those you love.

My computer is still away somewhere being repaired... so while I can I am posting some of my favorite new Mia pics. Things are still going along just as life with a new baby at home does. We are both enjoying her so much! I am making up new songs for things all the time- my favorite is the "yum yum song." I sing this when I am getting Mia's bottle already to go and she is just screaming like she hasn't been fed in days. :) Chad came up with a new song in the middle of the night last night. Mia was just screaming and Chad started his version of opera music (that is what it sounded like to me- I really don't know what he would call it) and just like that she stopped- she must have been scared into silence. :) It was cute. Hope everyone had a nice weekend! Enjoy the pics...

Welcome to the new site!

I am going to give this blogging site a this a try so I can start to upload movie clips of little Mia! Unfortunately I don't have my computer- sent it off for repairs, so for now just a sweet picture of Mia. Things are great here- today is my first day "home alone" with Mia. We are both still in our pj's ;) Chad was back to work yesterday and had a nice surprise shower from his co-workers at Brookhollow. He was excited to share all of the gifts with me last night. Our thanks to everyone. Chad loved it and was definitely surprised- what a nice welcome back!
Mia had her first check-up last Thursday and was a perfect angel at the hospital from 8-2! None of the screaming she shows off with at home. We are using the pediatricians at the Memorial Hermann High Risk Infant Clinic for now- it's called "The Kids Place". We had several great recommendations in the Woodlands, but one of Mia's doctors on the 8th floor works in the clinic as well. We loved her, and since I am home for the rest of this school year we thought it would be worth the drive to have Mia see doctors that know her best. We will see how it goes... Also, had an eye exam downtown Thursday- the doctor was happy to report no signs of ROP, and that Mia will not need any more follow up exams. We do not need to visit an opthamologist until next year! Great news! Thanks for checking in! Can't wait to get a "Mia Movie" up for all to see...

Love,
Sarah
