Love this little girl!!

We just got these photographs done last week of sweet Mia. I sure got teary eyed when I saw them. While I know she's not a baby anymore, it still took these photos for me to see that she is growing up into our little girl. We love her so!

Hurry, It's Naptime!

Okay, just a quick post while the Princess is sleeping.
Mia took her first steps a couple of weeks back- she's not "walking" yet, but she does take a few steps every now and then. We are very excited, and Mia's P.T. is really happy with her progress!!!
Mia went to her first birthday party for a "friend" over the weekend at one of those bouncy/inflatable places. Chad took her on the largest slide they had, and she just loved it!
Had to share Mia kissing her new sock Monkey from Grandma Gayle- her eyes are closed too- must be true love ;)
Hoping to get a little snow later this week...

Pictures!

She's getting so big- to us- people who don't know her always say, "She's so little"- we know the truth ;)

It was so nice to enjoy the holidays this year with our family!! Last year we didn't leave the house with Mia at all during the winter- and now I know why! Thinking back, I don't think we let too many visitors in either! She has already had two colds in the past 3 weeks. Nothing serious, just not fun. We are lucky to have such an amazing doctor who is willing to communicate through email, so it saves a lot of trips to the Med Center and keeps us away from the even sicker kiddos. She's one of Mia's doctors way back :) from the NICU days. Soon we are going to have to find a new Pedi because Mia can only see her until her 2nd birthday- just the "rules" of the preemie follow up clinic :(

Mia is keeping us busy now that she is really on the move! Many people have said, just wait until she's crawling- every time Chad and I are thinking, we really can't wait! I guess we a different perspective on things- each milestone still just amazes us. Mia is still working hard in therapy and getting stronger to get ready for walking. She's a great cruiser, and can stand on her own briefly. We are also continuing to work on her feeding and swallowing with speech therapy. She has "DA-DA" down pat now- it's so cute when Chad walks in the door and she starts yelling for him. We are starting a new sing and sign class at Kindermusic in a couple of weeks that I am excited about- Mia loves the regular music class there.

Okay, lots and lots of pictures- we'll see how many I can get posted before Mia calls me away!

Big Day, Big Month

Two days ago Mia was fifteen months old! How the time flies! Next week is the anniversary of the day she came home from the NICU. Thanksgiving Day to be exact! Today is Prematurity Awareness Day, along with Prematurity Awareness Month. The March of Dimes is an organization near and dear to us, and they have done a great job promoting and bringing awareness to this cause all month long. I am already getting excited for the next "March for Babies" walk that is in April. I hope that this year our team will grow with even more supporters, and that we are able to beat our fundraising totals from last year!

Today we had our fifteen month check-up. Mia's doctor was pleased with her progress, and especially her new crawling moves! We will continue to monitor her development and feeding issues over the next months, and continue with speech and physical therapy, but at this point we are going to just let her be Mia! The sweet, funny, cute, feisty, book loving, bottle drinking, daddy's girl, stubborn, crawling, bath splashing, bouncing, beautiful, chocolate pudding loving, smart, silly, and amazing girl that she is! (Feel free to add on to this list...) :)

I LOVE that Mia came home from the NICU on Thanksgiving! Someone up above must have orchestrated the timing of her homecoming. This year, and years from now, when friends or family go around the table talking about what they are thankful for, I'll be listening, but mostly I'll be looking into my sweet girl's eyes thinking about how thankful I am for her- for all she has taught me, and all that I will continue to learn from her.

Holiday pictures!

Mia and I had a little "photo shoot" today. Long story short, things did not go as I planned. You can see from the "lovely" pictures! I was really hoping to get some cute pics for a Shutterfly offer I had for free cards- I love free anything from Shutterfly! Instead, I just used an old picture, but I think it still turned out cute. I am determined to get that scottie dog outfit another day though!
